Shakti Project of
Rajasthan
Shakti means power

The aim of the Shakti Project of Rajasthan is to empower street children
through education.
Running Costs

2008
school year ends April 2009.
as you can see from the budget- Shakti exists month by month.
Ramsingh has the unenviable task of winging it often until something turns up.
The early part of the year is the worst because 2 really large bills come in- Rent and School Fees.

Small donations from passing travellers and the local community help with the food bills and utilities
- one can live without electricity when necessary and there is no phone[ it is messages passed along through
mutual friends], internet access and website provided through friends for free.

Our projects to create work in the local area and raise some funds for Shakrti are starting to take shape....

Our dreams
we are a little like "the Old Lady who lived in a Shoe", we don't know what to do for space...
At lunch time, these days it is difficult to find enough space for all the children to sit to eat, playing and school work is
so cramped.
We have as much space again upstairs- a flat roof area, too hot to use most of the year.
The owner of our building has agreed we can make it into more class space.
If we do this at our own cost, the amount will be paid back to us from the rent each year.
We have a quote of approximatley 200,000 Rp [US$ 4,500,
£2500 or 3350]for the building extension,
40,000 would come off our rent each year for the next 5  years- this will be written into our lease agreement.

As you can imagine we are are hoping for some kind soul to help us out.
We would reaaly appreciate a generous donation or even a generous loan- we could pay it back from the rent we save
for the next 5 years.

As at April. 2009 we are well on the way to realising this drem in the June
summer holidays- thank you all.
